Comments : A collection of specialised word lists, primarily
                         intended for password screening.

Any of these files will suffice for Cword, once pre-processing by
BREAKDIC has been completed to make them Cword compatible. I
personally like pocket.dic when operating off a small word file base
and web2.Z when I want to use obscure and unusual words. Take your
pick, but remember: the speed which Cword runs at is inversely
proportional to the size of the word files being used.

2. uuencode/uudecode/compress/tar/zip/gzip utilites for OpenVMS.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Hunter Goatley [MadGoat Software] maintains a fantastic FTP/WWW
archive of useful OpenVMS utilities. These utilities includes all the
standard U*X utilities used to distribute/use freeware/shareware
software distributions. If you are running on OpenVMS, you will
probably not be able to use Cword without access to at least some of
these utilities.

The WWW URLs for MadGoat Software are:

http://www.wku.edu/www/fileserv/fileserv.html or
http://www.wku.edu/www/fileserv/fileserv-software.html

Search the latter WWW page for the following subject headers:

UUCODE - UUencode/UUdecode for OpenVMS.
COMPRESS - Compress for OpenVMS.
VMSTAR - Tar for OpenVMS.
ZIP20 or UNZIP - Portable ZIP for OpenVMS.
GZIP-1-2-4 - GNU ZIP for OpenVMS.

It is also possible to access any of these utilities via ordinary FTP.
The necessary login/directory information being:

hostname: ftp.wku.edu
username: anonymous
password: anything?
directory: [.vms.fileserv]
utility name: <name_of_utility>.ZIP
(Get the utility name required from the above list e.g. VMSTAR.ZIP -
remember to set the transfer mode to binary before actually fetching
the files in question.)

To use any of these utilities, you first have to obtain a copy of
UNZIP.EXE.

3. uuencode/uudecode/compress/tar/zip/gzip utilites for MS-DOS
--------------------------------------------------------------

All the standard U*X utilities for distributing/using
freeware/shareware distributions have also been ported to MS-DOS. The
problem is usually where to find them though, when you need them :-(.

Well cheer up, I've went and found them for you, nice guy that I am
:-).

Many of the files described below are available from any of the large
public Windows/MS-DOS software archives like:

1. CICA [ftp.cica.indiana.edu]

2. SimTel [ftp.coast.net]

3. WUSTL [wuarchive.wustl.edu]

etc. All these utilities will be in the "utilities" section/directory
of the FTP archives described above. You may not be able to access
the primary sites themselves but should be able to get what you want
from one of the many mirror sites.

XFERP100.ZIP/WNCODE15.ZIP - UUencode

COMP430D.ZIP/COMP430S.ZIP - Compress

WINZIP56.EXE - Tar

WINZIP56.EXE/PKZIP???.EXE - Zip/PKzip

GZIP124.ZIP - Gzip

4. zip/gzip for U*X.
--------------------

There should be no need to use anything other than the standard
utilities (compress, tar and uudecode) on U*X, except maybe for gzip.
gzip is GNU's zip. It is reputed to be much faster and more efficient
that Zip, PKzip, or any of its associates.

gzip should be found in any of the FTP archives carrying general GNU
software [prep.ai.mit.edu:/pub/gnu]. In fact most GNU software uses
gzip. This begs the question: What does gzip use ;-).
