CLUE WRITING COMPETITION NUMBER ## Welcome to the Clue Writing Competition ## (devised by Ian Gent). I've been invited to moderate it by the moderator of CWC##, , and I, in turn, invite you to participate. The rules are as those used in this series and the dates for CWC ## are: Day Date Month Time Timezone Deadline for CWC ## entries Day Date Month I'll post the CWC ## winners and, in a separate posting, an annotated list of entries The rules: Lower down you'll find two words for which cryptic clues are to be concocted. I would like up to one clue per person for each word, and there does not have to be any tie-in between these clues. You may add bonus clues, if you wish; they will be posted and credited in the results list, but will not be judged (by me, anyway). E-mail the clues, along with your name and e-mail address, clear explanations of how your clues work, and whether or not you could run CWC##, to me at the following address: I will notify you on the arrival of your clues and, after the deadline, I'll pick my favorite clue for each word and my overall favorite, inviting its writer to set the next round of this competition. I'll post separately a list of runner-up clues, and all the remaining clues, with commentary. IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT post your own clues, or anything else that might give away the answer words. Some readers of this group want to try solving the winning clues so please don't spoil it for them. The words for CWC ## follow, "rot13"-encoded for extra security, after 35 blank lines.
