This is the second game program I wrote (after the Chinese Chess game). The original idea for this game came from my group in the FPT Youth Talent Club (my group consists of me and 2 of my friends, Nguyen Trung Hieu and Huynh Ngoc Dang Trinh). We intended to work together but in the end we cannot make it due to some objective reasons. I took the idea of this game and build it up to this Scrabble program. Scrabble is a very popular word playing game. This Scrabble program supports:

  • Play single player games with up to 3 computer players (Scrabble allow only 4 players at a time). Computer playing level can be configured from Beginner to Expert.
  • Play multiplayer games up to 4 players (can have computers as players). This requires DirectX 5.0.
  • Brief help on how to play Scrabble

This program is the cooperation of me and 2 of my friends, Nguyen Cam Thach and Tran Dinh Nguyen. We worked together when we were at high school as NPT Group (NPT is from the initial letters of our surnames as well as our last names). Our programming skill at that time is very limited

I wrote this program to help myself improving my own English and it was also a chance for me to practice programming with Microsoft Visual Basic. This program is a combination of a vocabulary e-notebook and a English-Vietnamese dictionary (I intend to use the English-English one instead but can not find a free one). Here are some of Vocabulary Study main function:

  • Give a quick look up for word you learn (using its dictionary) and also pronounces words (when using with English Study 3.0, a quite popular English self-study program in Vietnam)
  • Keep track of words you have learnt and allow you to retrieve it in any period of time
  • Pronounce a list of words you have learnt word by word for memorizing pronunciation
  • Many types of exercises: listening exercise (listen to a word and write out its spelling), word matching exercise (given a list of words and a list of meanings (the ones you entered when you learnt those words), word guessing (given the meaning, you have to think of the word which has that meaning)

This is the Delphi version of the Vocabulary Study, with exactly the same functions as the its Visual Basic predecessor. This program I wrote when I learnt programming with Delphi
