Documentation is provided comprising a copy of the local SCRIBE Primer and Reference Manuals and a set of course notes. The course notes include many illustrative examples. @subheading[Target Clientele] Postgraduate students and members of staff of Edinburgh University; other users of ERCC computing facilities including members of staff of other universities and research council establishments; other Treasury-aided and commercial users of ERCC services. This course is unlikely to be of interest to those who are not users of ERCC services, @b[unless] they have access to a version of the SCRIBE document preparation system. @subheading[Entry Requirements] This is an intensive course describing the use of a large and sophisticated piece of software. It is essential that intending participants have gained some experience in the use of the EMAS operating system. In particular, those attending should have achieved some fluency in the creation of text files using a text editor of their choice. Persons failing to satisfy this specific requirement are unlikely to benefit from attending this course. @subheading[Course Structure] The course comprises 4 half day sessions which may be timetabled to last 2 full days, or as a series of 4 half day sessions spread over several weeks.
