The graph paper in these images has 0.2in squares.

I had a zoom lens that fits the same screw thread as the colour camera, but would not focus on the paper at all on any focus setting other than infinity.  It behaved as a macro lens and would not work at all for anything farther away than a few cm.

The normal picam with the fixed focus lens would not focus close enough for usable work.  I was unable to break the glue seal which locks the lens at the fixed focus - any more force trying to dislodge it and it would have broken.  I've already broken one of the IR cameras, I don't want to trash any more.

The distances were measured with an ultrasonic rangefinder.  The distances to the images are in the .log files corresponding to each image.  Eliminate outliers and take the shortest of the group that are around the same distance.  Small discrepancies come from linux delays since it is not a real-time system.  Still, it is pretty accurate.
