My husband is good for this sort of thing. He just had a
long discussion and got me new non-stop flights. The
cancelled ones had 3-hour layovers in Newark (do you see
what I will endure for wordslers??).

He's also out buying me a new car right now.

Oh, they're eliminating flights because they're going under.

DEAR FRIEND,

I AM MRS. SESE-SEKO WIDOW OF LATE PRESIDENT MOBUTU
SESE-SEKO OF ZAIRE? NOW KNOWN AS DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
OF CONGO (DRC). I AM MOVED TO WRITE YOU THIS LETTER,
THIS WAS IN CONFIDENCE CONSIDERING MY PRESENT
CIRCUMSTANCE AND SITUATION.

I ESCAPED ALONG WITH MY HUSBAND AND TWO OF OUR SONS
KONGOLO AND NZANGA OUT OF DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF
CONGO (DRC) TO ABIDJAN, COTE D'IVOIRE WHERE MY FAMILY
AND I SETTLED, WHILE WE LATER MOVED TO SETTLED IN
MORROCO WHERE MY HUSBAND LATER DIED OF CANCER
DISEASE. HOWEVER DUE TO THIS SITUATION WE DECIDED TO
CHANGED MOST OF MY HUSBAND'S BILLIONS OF DOLLARS
DEPOSITED IN SWISS BANK AND OTHER COUNTRIES INTO OTHER

FORMS OF MONEY CODED FOR SAFE PURPOSE BECAUSE THE NEW

HEAD OF STATE OF (DR) MR LAURENT KABILA HAS MADE
ARRANGEMENT WITH THE SWISS GOVERNMENT AND OTHER
EUROPEAN COUNTRIES TO FREEZE ALL MY LATE HUSBAND'S
TREASURES DEPOSITED IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. HENCE

MY CHILDREN AND I DECIDED LAYING LOW IN AFRICA TO
STUDY THE SITUATION TILL WHEN THINGS GETS BETTER,
LIKE NOW THAT PRESIDENT KABILA IS DEAD AND THE SON
TAKING OVER (JOSEPH KABILA). ONE OF MY LATE HUSBAND'S
CHATEAUX IN SOUTHERN FRANCE WAS CONFISCATED BY THE
FRENCH GOVERNMENT, AND AS SUCH I HAD TO CHANGE MY
IDENTITY SO THAT MY INVESTMENT WILL NOT BE TRACED AND

CONFISCATED. I HAVE DEPOSITED THE SUM OF EIHGTEEN
MLLION UNITED STATE DOLLARS(US$18,000,000,00.) WITH A

SECURITY COMPANY , FOR SAFEKEEPING. THE FUNDS ARE
SECURITY CODED TO PREVENT THEM FROM KNOWING THE
CONTENT. WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO IS TO INDICATE YOUR
INTEREST THAT YOU WILL ASSIST US BY RECEIVING THE
MONEY ON OUR BEHALF.ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MESSAGE, SO THAT
I CAN INTRODUCE YOU TO MY SON (KONGOLO) WHO HAS THE
OUT MODALITIES FOR THE CLAIM OF THE SAID FUNDS. I WANT

YOU TO ASSIST IN INVESTING THIS MONEY, BUT I WILL NOT
WANT MY IDENTITY REVEALED. I WILL ALSO WANT TO BUY
PROPERTIES AND STOCK IN MULTI-NATIONAL COMPANIES AND
TO ENGAGE IN OTHER SAFE AND NON-SPECULATIVE
INVESTMENTS. MAY I AT THIS POINT EMPHASISE THE HIGH
LEVEL OF CONFIDENTIALITY, WHICH THIS BUSINESS
DEMANDS, AND HOPE YOU WILL NOT BETRAY THE TRUST AND
CONFIDENCE, WHICH I REPOSE IN YOU. IN CONCLUSION, IF
YOU WANT TO ASSIST US , MY SON SHALL PUT YOU IN THE
PICTURE OF THE BUSINESS, TELL YOU WHERE THE FUNDS ARE

CURRENTLY BEING MAINTAINED AND ALSO DISCUSS OTHER
MODALITIES INCLUDING REMUNERATION FOR YOUR SERVICES.

FOR THIS REASON KINDLY FURNISH US YOUR CONTACT
INFORMATION, THAT IS YOUR PERSONAL TELEPHONE AND FAX
NUMBER FOR CONFIDENTIAL PURPOSE AND ACKNOWLEDGE
RECEIPT OF THIS MAIL USING THE ABOVE EMAIL ADDRESS.

BEST REGARDS,

MRS M. SESE SEKO

Huh? Anyway, France is in charge of Ivory Coast.

They were in St. Louis the other night. I don't know

where they are on tour now. I particularly enjoyed it when
they got naked for the cause.

It's hard to take you seriously when you get so vituperative.

May 12, 2003: Editorial, Center of Media Studies (Centro de Estudios sobre la Información), Buenos Aires-Santiago de Chile (translated from original in Spanish)

Leftist bias in the media: serious worldwide problem

The persistent influence of leftist and liberal editors, journalists and reporters of most important media centers in the West, which translates into a bias that misinforms, constitutes a serious problem inherited by the XXI Century, and creates an obstacle to international understanding and coexisting.

Through sophisticated writing techniques, with the help of social psychology and propaganda, relevant issues are distorted or silenced, myths are created and almost instantly the public opinion is emotionally stirred, which in most respects is more dangerous than even chemical or biological weapons because intelligence, will and the sensitivity of the people are being manipulated.

In the United States, the liberals in the media act as a true "Trojan horse". In 1985 Los Angeles Times conducted an opinion survey which included 2,700 journalists from 621 newspapers. Those which responded with liberal ideas surpassed conservatives by more than 3 to 1 (55% versus 17%). Surveys done by the American Association of Newspaper Editors (ASNE) in 1988 and 1997 confirmed in general terms those results.

Several recent books have revealed the phenomenon of liberal bias used to misinform. For example, "Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News", by Bernard Goldberg; and "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right , by Ann Coulter. Few people are aware that the communist dictator in Cuba, Fidel Castro, came to power and remains in power for more than 40 years with the decisive support, direct or indirect, of major North American mass media agencies, as evidenced in the studies "The New York Times and Cuban Revolution", by William E. Ratliff and "Castro and the United States Press", written by John P. Wallach.

In Latin America, especially in Brazil, the leftist influence in the media is one of the factors behind the recent waive of anti-North Americanism, which has among its objectives to impede the establishment of a natural alliance among the healthier sectors of North and South America. Regrettably, there does not appear to be a proportionate interest and determination from the conservative North American journalists to exhibit their points of view in the Latin American press, through articles, conferences and participation in debates. This constitutes a problem which should be addressed being that History demonstrates that battles of ideas are much more decisive than military battles.

In Europe, liberalism in the media is also intensely manifested, with different characteristics of each country, but with the same objective of opening gaps between the more healthier sectors of public opinion in the Old and New continent, which have a common longing for the defense of the principals of Christian civilization.

Leftist editors and journalists insist, in the same manner, to consigning the crimes of communism in Russia and Eastern Europe to oblivion. For example, the reception of the second volume of "The Black Book of Communism", written by a knowledgeable team of French historians and recently released by the Editorial Robert Laffont, has been of almost complete silence by the European press, according to one of its authors, Stéphane Courtois, Director of surveys for the CNRS of France. This is not a new phenomenon. Pope Pío XI referred to a "true conspiracy of silence" regarding the crimes of communism in large part due to the press worldwide, together with a "truly diabolical propaganda" in favor of ideas and lifestyles of anti-Christians.

Information bias is always reprehensible and it has not only been used by liberals and leftists. However, it is they that have mostly taken advantage of it. To protect oneself against the phenomenon of disinformation and chaotic news, the most affective antidote is the exercise of sound reflection based on logic, common sense, objectivity and the moral convictions which have as their foundation the Commandments of the Law of God.

The Center of Media Studies (Centro de Estudios sobre la Información) has as its fundamental objective to contribute to the development of a critical spirit in the Americas as it relates to information bias in the media.

FROM THE DESK OF: MR MARTINS EWA
REPLY TO : martinsewa@zwallet.com

Good day,

I am MR MARTINS EWA, head of the accounts/operations dept. of one of the leading merchant banks in Nigeria..I have an urgent and very confidential business proposition for you.

On December 8, 1998, an American Oil consultant/contractor with the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers made a
numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calendar months, valued at
US$25,000,000.00(Twenty-five Million Dollars) in my branch.Upon
maturity, I sent a routine notification to her forwarding address but
got no reply. After a month,we sent a reminder and finally we
discovered from her contract employers, the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation that Mrs.Ann
Barbara Myers died from a ghastly automobile accident. On further
investigation,I found out that she died without making a WILL, and
all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless.

I therefore made further investigation and discovered that Mrs.Ann
Barbara Myers did not declare any next of kin or relations in all her
official documents, including her Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank.
This sum of US$25,000,000.00
is still sitting in my Bank and the interest is being rolled over
with the principal sum at the end of each year.No one will ever come
forward to claim it.According to Nigerian Law, at the expiration of 5
(five) years, the money will revert to the ownership of the Nigerian
Government if nobody applies to claim this fund.

Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you as a foriegner to
stand in as the next of kin to Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers so that the
fruits of this woman's labor will not get into the hands of some
corrupt government officials. This is simple, I will like you to
provide immediately your full names and address so that the Attorney
will prepare the necessary documents and affidavits which will put
you in place as the next of kin.
We shall employ the services of two Attorneys for drafting and
notarization of the WILL and to obtain the necessary
documents and letter of probate/administration in your favor for the
transfer.

We would need you as a Foreigner acting as the next of kin and sole
benefactor to the inheritance of Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers to travel and
claim this money in a SECURITY COMPANY based in Europe which is used
by my bank as an offshore payment center to the bank. The money will
be paid to you for us to share in the ratio of 60% for me and 40% for
you.
There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction
will be done by the Attorney and my position as the Branch Manager
guarantees the successful execution of this transaction.

If you are interested, please reply immediately via the private
email address below. Upon your response, I shall then provide you
with more details and relevant documents that will help you
understand the transaction.

Please observe utmost confidentiality, and rest assured that this
transaction would be most profitable for both of us because I shall
require your assistance to invest my share in your country.

Awaiting your urgent reply via my email: martinsewa@zwallet.com
Thanks and regards.

MR MARTINS EWA

I might use a blog for my "homework hotline" next year. The
disadvantage is that the kids couldn't access it from school
because of our nanny software, but then again, if they're in
school, they can just waltz up to 219 and look at the
assignment board.

FROM: WADADA KENULE
DEAR FRIEND,
MY GREETINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND I HOPE THIS
LETTER MEETS YOU IN GOOD HEALTH. I AM WADADA KENULE,
AIDE TO THE LATE PRESIDENT MOBUTU SESE-SEKO OF
ZAIRE NOW KNOWN AS DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO (DRC).
I AM WRITING TO YOU IN GOOD FAITH BASED ON YOUR
PROFILE I RECEIVED FROM THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN
SOUTH AFRICA.I AM MOVED TO WRITE YOU THIS LETTER IN
CONFIDENCE CONSIDERING MY PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCE AND
SITUATION AS A WAR REFUGEE HERE IN SOUTH AFRICA.

FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE LATE PRESIDENT MOBUTU SESE-SEKO WAS
FORCED OUT OF POWER, I WAS INSTRUCTED BY HIM TO MAKE
AVAILABLE THE SUM OF US$22MILLION WHICH WAS TO BE
TRANSFERRED ABROAD AND LODGED WITH A SECURITY COMPANY FOR
SAFEKEEPING DISCLOSED AS FAMILY VALUABLES IN MY NAME
PENDING FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. TWO WEEKS LATER ON MAY 16
1997, PRESIDENT MOBUTU SESE-SEKO GAVE UP POWER TO THE
REBELS LED BY LAURENT KABILA, WHO WERE ADVANCING FROM
KISINGANI AND FLED TO TOGO FROM WHERE HE LATER MOVED TO
MOROCCO WHERE HE DIED ON SEPTEMBER 7, 1997 LESS THAN FOUR
MONTHS AFTER HE WAS FORCED OUT OF POWER. HE WAS AGED 66
YEARS.

I MANAGED TO ESCAPE TO SOUTH AFRICA WITH MY SON KENNETH,
AGED 17 WHERE I AM PRESENTLY RESIDING AS A WAR REFUGEE
SHORTLY AFTER THE CAPITAL CITY KINSHASHA WAS OVERRAN BY
REBELS. I LOST MY WIFE AND MY TWO CHILDREN, AND ALL MY
POSSESSIONS DURING THE REBEL ONSLAUGHT ON THE CAPITAL CITY.
THE LATE MOBUTU SESE-SEKO DURING HIS 30 YEAR RULE
AMASSED A PERSONAL FORTUNE OF US$8BILLION WITH HOUSES
IN SWITZERLAND AND FRANCE. HOWEVER, THE INCUMBENT
PRESIDENT LAURENT KABILA MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE
SWISS GOVERNMENT AND OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES TO
FREEZE ALL HIS ASSETS AND CONFISCATE HIS PROPERTIES. I
THUS DECIDED TO LIE LOW IN AFRICA TO STUDY THE
SITUATION, UNTIL WHEN THINGS GET BETTER LIKE NOW THAT
PRESIDENT LAURENT KABILA IS DEAD AND HIS SON JOSEPH KABILA
HAS TAKEN OVER.

I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE SECURITY COMPANY ABROAD
WHERE THE MONEY IS STILL LODGED AS FAMILY VALUABLES.
WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO IS TO INDICATE YOUR INTEREST THAT YOU
WILL ASSIST ME BY RECEIVING THE MONEY ON MY BEHALF.
ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MESSAGE SO THAT I CAN GIVE YOU THE
MODALITIES FOR THE CLAIM OF THE FUNDS. MAY I AT THIS POINT
EMPHASIZE THE HIGH LEVEL OF CONFIDENTIALITY WHICH THIS
BUSINESS DEMANDS, AND HOPE YOU WILL NOT BETRAY THE TRUST
AND CONFIDENCE WHCH I HAVE REPOSED IN YOU.
IF YOU WANT TO ASSIST, I SHALL PUT YOU IN THE PICTURE
OF THE BUSINESS, TELL YOU WHERE THE FUNDS ARE
CURRENTLY BEIGN MAINTAINED AND ALSO DISCUSS OTHER
MODALITIES INCLUDING REMUNERATION FOR YOUR SERVICES. I
AM WILLING TO GIVE YOU A REASONABLE PERCENTAGE OF THE
MONEY AS SOON AS THE TRANSACTION IS CONCLUDED.
FOR THIS REASON, KINDLY FURNISH ME YOUR CONTACT
INFORMATION, WHICH IS YOUR PERSONAL TELEPHONE AND FAX
NUMBERS FOR CONFIDENTIAL PURPOSE AND ACKNOWLEDGE
RECEIPT OF THIS MAIL USING THE EMAIL ADDRESS BELOW.
kwadada@breathe.com

YOURS SINCERELY,
WADADA KENULE.

"There clearly now is going to be an orgy of mergers and acquisitions,"
said Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., a member of the Senate Commerce
Committee. He called the FCC's decision "dumb and dangerous."

South Carolina Sen. Ernest Hollings, the committee's ranking Democrat,
and Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott, the former Republican leader, joined

Airline Ticket Program Details:

- The program works with every major airline and most major resort, condo=
and hotel chains.

- You must book your Hotel Stay at your point of destination with the pro=
motions agency. They are a fully licensed and accredited national travel =
agency.

- Some hotels may have a minimum stay requirement. But the minimum stay =
will be no longer than a regular vacation (no longer than 5-7 days) and yo=
u do not have to stay at the hotel the number of days booked.

- You must depart from an international US airport and book 60 days in ad=
vance or longer for peak holiday seasons.

- You will have to pay a $20 fee to cover the shipping and handling costs=
in processing the trip.

- You will receive your reservation voucher and booking information via e=
-mail immediately upon your order.

- You mail that in with your $20 fee to cover shipping and handling.

- You will then be sent a valid Reservation Request Form in about 6-8 wee=
ks which is good for 2 years and asks for your trip details.

- When you are ready to go on a trip and redeem your free airfare, send i=
n the Reservation Request Form. You will then be sent the lodging availab=
le for the dates you requested in the area that you are traveling too.

- You will contact the agency and book your hotel, resort or condo reserv=
ation.

That's it. A very simple and inexpensive way to get Airline Tickets worth=
up to a $1,600 value.

Nah. It is impossible to sleep in a hospital. And there

Evelyn, please pay careful attention: TV is not real life.
It is made up.

Life just got more interesting.

This from advocate.com :

After Tuesday's court ruling in the Canadian province of Ontario giving
same-sex couples the full legal right to marriage there, many gay men and
lesbians from the United States are asking if they too can get married up
north. "Basically, any couple from the United States can get married, but they
have to be married in Ontario," said Diane Sibley, executive director of
Licensing and Enforcement Services for the city of Windsor, Ontario. "But
we can't force another jurisdiction to accept our laws." Same-sex couples
from America need only meet Ontario's requirements for a marriage license,
Sibley adds, including supplying birth certificates, paying the $150 Canadian
processing fee, and providing details about where and when the ceremony
will take place in the country.

It's unclear what impact the Ontario court's ruling will have on gay couples
from the United States who travel across the border for a marriage license.
Currently, 37 U.S. states have laws banning recognition of marriages between
same-sex couples, regardless of where the marriages took place. But
disregarding a marriage from Canada could lead to court challenges, experts
say.

>From advocate.com:
Absolut announces gay marketing
campaign
Vodka maker Absolut has introduced an elaborate advertising and
promotional campaign aimed at gay and lesbian consumers. Labeled
"Absolut Out," the release of the ads coincides with the many June pride
events in major cities with large gay populations. The yearlong campaign will
feature local and national elements that include an oversize three-dimensional
billboard traveling around the country; magazine, postcard, and Internet
advertising; and sponsorship of fund-raisers for the Human Rights Campaign,
a gay rights group.

Gay and lesbian consumers are "fiercely brand-loyal and go out a lot," said
James T. Goodwin, vice president for marketing at the Absolut Spirits Co. in
New York, a division of V&S Vin & Sprit A.B., the Swedish distiller of the
Absolut line of vodkas, which has been advertising to gays and lesbians since
1981. "But they're not only important for what they consume. They're also
important as influencers." According to Goodwin, Absolut's following among
gay and lesbian consumers helped it catch on among mainstream vodka
drinkers, and the brand grew to become the top-selling import.

The "Absolut Out" campaign plays on closeted sexuality with images of nine
closets, each shaped like the Absolut bottle, on the mobile "Absolut Out"
billboard. When the billboard arrives in a given city, the closet doors are
closed. About 10 days later, the doors are simultaneously flung open to reveal
the clothing, shoes, accessories, and tchotchkes emblematic of nine
archetypes of gay men and lesbians, including the punk rocker, the activist,
the preppie, the athlete, the dog-show aficionado, the bodybuilder, and, with
a double-wide closet, the drag queen. Absolut "wanted to have some fun"
with the types of people shown on the billboard "and not make it PC but
broad and a little cheeky," said Patrick O'Neill, group creative director at
TBWA\Chiat\Day, the ad agency that came up with the campaign.

While a cleaver campaign, one which I'm sure is going to be popular, the
gay community has enough problems with drugs and alcohol.

>From Advocate.com:
--------------------------
A powerful committee in Canada's Parliament on Thursday decided--by a
one-vote margin--to issue a nonbinding call to the Canadian government to
drop any legal challenges to court rulings allowing same-sex marriages. The
9-8 vote, by the House of Commons Justice Committee, is intended to prod
Prime Minister Jean Chretien's government to change the legal definition of
marriage or to refrain from challenging court rulings that give gay and
lesbian couples the right to marry.
Despite the Parliament committee's vote, Justice Minister Martin Cauchon
said Thursday that he needs more time before deciding whether the
government will appeal to Canada's supreme court. If Cauchon decides not to
appeal, the appellate court's definition of marriage would become national
law. "There's many options," Cauchon said. "We have a cabinet retreat next
week, and I really want to take the time to talk to my colleagues."

What is Farmer's Cheese? I've seen it everywhere lately,
including the menu of our favorite Indian place tonight. I
swear I'd never heard of the stuff before this year. Is
this a new name for an old cheese, or some new trendy cheese?

The nuns uninvited me from catechism class. I had to be home
schooled by my mother to make first communion (my mom is
catholic; my dad is orthodox). I am not making this up.
Ana, however, did earn the perfect attendance award for
Sunday School and Children's Choir this year.

You will be even more surprised to know that I've never read
a thing by Graham Greene.

I'll see you all in three weeks. If you are simply
*desperate* to communicate with me, use my hotmail account
as I won't be checking this one -- rrouvalis@hotmail.com.
It would be good to tell me if, like, the 'fest got
cancelled or something, but not strictly necessary.

Thanks for the weather report, Clyde. I'll have to let WHDH
take it from here on out.

Behave yourselves. Kinda.
